The First-Timer's Essential Guide to a Weekend in Puerto Princesa

Assuming that you've already booked be staying at Sunlight Guest Hotel inPuerto Princesa City, Philippines, here's a guide on how to make the most out of your first weekend here.

Day 1: Friday
You can arrange to be picked up Puerto Princesa International Airport via the hotel's airport transfer service. The check-in time is 2 pm, so you must be feeling a bit tired and hungry during this time. There's a cafe where you can get some snacks after you have settled in your chosen room or penthouse.

Come dinner time, you have the option of either dining at the SGH's Saluhan Buffet Restobar or at Al Fresco Restobar on the roof top. Both of these facilities offer outstanding service, good food, and fantastic sea views. If you decide that you want to check out the city's dining scene, you can rent a car, or just get yourself a taxi to town. Kinabuch Bar and Grill, along Rizal Avenue, is your best bet when it comes to local Filipino cuisine. McCoy's in San Miguel, meanwhile, is the go-to destination for Italian cuisine and pizza with different variations.

As for the rest of the evening, you can just head back to your room, have a nightcap at the bar, or hang out with friends down in this Palawan accommodation's lounge area.

Day 2: Saturday
While sleeping in is perfectly acceptable, it is highly recommended that you get out of your bed right away to get things done. Start by exercising at this Puerto Princesa hotel's fully equipped gym or get a hot breakfast at the restobar as early as 6 am.

After cleaning up and changing to your outdoor attire, head down to the lobby where the tour bookings and information desk can be found. The staff will help you organize your day trips to popular sites like Honda Bay, Irawan Eco Park, and of course, the world-famous Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park. These day tours include land arrangements, boat transfers, buffet lunch, permits, entrance fees, and a licensed tour guide.

When you finally make it back to your guestroom, call the concierge to set you up with a much needed massage session, order room service, and then call it a night.

Day 3: Sunday
The check-out time is around noon, so ask the front desk to wake you up to have time for some last-minute shopping and exploring. The hotel enjoys a short distance from shopping malls and souvenir shops that will make going on an afternoon of retail therapy very easy to achieve. When it's time to catch a flight, you can take advantage of Sunlight Guest Hotel in Puerto Princesa's shuttle services.
