Cebu City Tour Made Easy With the Central Location of Bayfront Hotel

Bayfront Hotel Cebu in Cebu City, Philippines proves to be an ideal base to explore the best the Queen City of the South offers. The central location of the accommodation provides easy access to the must-see attractions that make a remarkable stay in the city.

From the Mactan-Cebu International Airport, it only takes a 20-minute drive to reach the hotel, and from here, seeing the top tourist city destinations takes no more than a cinch. Here are some places near the hotel that you definitely must stop-over:

Basilica del Santo Niño. Commonly known as Santo Niño Church, the Minor Basilica of the Holy Child is popular for being the oldest Roman Catholic church in the country. Built in 1565 by Spaniard explorer Miguel Lopez de Legazpi, the church serves as a historic and religious landmark. Unfortunately, it received some damage when a 7.2 magnitude earthquake hit the Visayan region on October 15, 2013 but repairs and renovation were done to restore the structure of the church.

Magellan’s Cross. On Magallanes Street, right next to the Sto. Niño Church, is where Magellan's Cross can be found. For a long time, this is a staple in post cards coming from Cebu. According to historians, the cross was planted for Spain by Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan after reaching the shores of Cebu, which is formerly called Sugbo. This happened on April 21, 1521.

Fort San Pedro. On May 8, 1565, Spaniard Miguel López de Legazpi started the construction of Fort San Pedro or Fuerza de San Pedro. It is located in Plaza Indepedencia in the pier area of Cebu. It is now a serene park and garden with a small museum that gives tourists a glimpse of the rich history of the city.

The Heritage of Cebu Monument. A work of national artist Edgardo Castrillo, this monument summarizes the deep roots of history and culture that Cebu possesses. It is located in the original Plaza Parain in Colon Street, near the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral. It depicts important events that shaped not only the city but the entire archipelago, from the time of Rajah Humabon to the recent beatification of Cebuano martyr Pedro Calungsod.

These are but only a few sights to see in the city. The best part is they are just near each other so going around from one place to another takes hardly any effort at all. And after a day under the sun exploring these places, find retreat in the relaxing accommodation offered by Bayfront Hotel Cebu in Cebu City and get more conveniences through its first-rate facilities and services. Enjoy your stay!
